jcschillphotography.com: About the Photographer |
All while our two children grew up I was forever sticking a camera in their faces. When our son was in High School he raced snowcross on the NE Minnesota WSA circuit. At the races every weekend I was taking hundreds of pictures and soon other parents were asking me to take pictures of their kids. That's when I realized that I could actually get paid for doing what I love! After working for the government for 21 years, I had enough of the dealing with office politics and decided that life was too short not to enjoy it. That's when I decided to just jump in with both feet and get into the business. I've had a trememdous amount of support from my family and friends and can't thank them enough. I shoot all digital now with my Nikon D70 (old reliable) and D80. I do mostly location shooting but also have a small studio set up on the farm. I find that shooting outdoors gets people relaxed and you get more natural images. My son's wife Sarah is my assistant when I need her. I would hate to shoot a wedding without her. My daughter Kristie keeps me grounded with her advise about not being too critical of my own work. You could say I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to that. And now that both my kids have had babies I have new models! And they thought I took alot of pictures at their weddings! |
